Gaybe Moore (he/they) completed their B.A. in Biology and Musical Studies at Oberlin College and their Ph.D. in Molecular Biology at Princeton University. Their dissertation examined the clinical relevance of a previously unappreciated bacterial pathogen and generated a novel tool for examining aspects of its pathogenesis. Moving out of academia, they fused their past advocacy and science work as an Eagleton Science Policy Fellow at the Eagleton Institute of Politics and New Jersey Department of Health addressing health inequities brought about and continued by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Currently, they are Assistant Professor of Biology at Oberlin College teaching courses in public and global health, pathogen-host interactions, and organismal biology. Their future work aims to focus on the intersections of public policy, microbiology, and society while creating collaborations and working with existing coalitions to better understand the molecular and social determinants of health.
